Most local commercials are made backwards
The usual process: somebody decides they need a commercial, a shop quotes a number nobody can explain, and six weeks later a thirty-second spot arrives that could belong to any business in any city. The logo at the end is the only thing that identifies it.
The spots that actually work start from the opposite end. What does this business have that the one across the street does not? Sometimes it is a person. Sometimes it is a room, or a machine, or a process nobody outside the company has ever seen. That is the commercial. Everything else is filler.
What we make
Broadcast and streaming spots
Thirty and fifteen second cuts built to run. Delivered to whatever specs your buyer needs, with the captions and alternate lengths included rather than quoted separately.
Social ads
Vertical, sound-off, hook in the first second. These are not your TV spot cropped to nine-sixteen — they are shot and cut for a feed, because a spot that needs audio and patience dies there.
Brand spots
Sixty to ninety seconds, made to sit on your homepage and get sent to people rather than bought as media. Less selling, more showing.
Product and process
If what you sell is physical, or if how you make it is the interesting part, that is usually the most persuasive footage you own and almost nobody shoots it properly.
What you get
- A crew of two. The same two on every shoot.
- Shot at your business, on location, wherever the story actually is.
- Licensed music, color, sound, captions.
- Cut for every place it runs: broadcast lengths, vertical social, stills from the shoot day.
- Unlimited revisions. We work until it is right, not until the hours run out.
What it costs
These are published prices. They do not change based on how big your company looks.
- The Short — $2,000. A shoot of your space and your people cut to music with text on top. No interviews, no script. The fastest way to have something that looks current.
- Story Film — $4,500. A focused shoot at one location cut into a single polished film. Most single commercials land here.
- Brand Package — $10,000. Multiple scenes across a shoot: a hero spot, social cutdowns, cinematic b-roll and brand photography. Enough material to run a year of advertising off one shoot day.
Companies we have worked with
We have produced work for Wendy's, QuikTrip and Mazuma, alongside a long list of smaller Kansas City businesses. Ask on the call and we will show you the closest thing to what you are trying to make.
How it works
- A call. Thirty minutes. What are you selling, who are you selling it to, and where will the spot run. We tell you which package fits and what it costs.
- A shot list. Exactly what we plan to shoot and who we need for how long, sent before the shoot so nobody is guessing.
- The shoot. Usually one day. We work around your open hours rather than shutting you down.
- The cut. First version within a couple of weeks, then revisions until you are happy.
Where we shoot
We film across the metro every week — Overland Park, Olathe, Lenexa and downtown Kansas City most often. No travel charge inside the metro.
Running an event rather than a campaign? That is covered on our event video page.
How much does a commercial cost in Kansas City?
Ours start at $2,000 and run to $10,000 for a full brand package. A single commercial is usually the $4,500 Story Film. Those are published prices, not opening offers.
Do you handle media buying?
No. We make the spot and deliver it to whatever specs your station, platform or agency needs. If you do not have a buyer yet we can point you at people who do this well.
How long until we can run it?
One shoot day, then a first cut back within a couple of weeks. Revisions are unlimited, so the finish date depends mostly on how fast you return notes.
Can we get vertical and square versions?
Yes, and they are included rather than billed as extras. Anything shot for us gets cut for where it actually runs.
Do we need a script?
Not usually. Most of what we shoot is either b-roll cut to music or interview-led, where you answer questions in your own words. Scripted delivery is where local commercials start sounding like local commercials.
Do you shoot outside Kansas City?
We do, but there is no travel charge inside the metro, including Johnson County and the Northland.
