We shoot drone and aerial footage across Kansas City — property and facility flyovers, construction progress, campus tours, event aerials and the establishing shots that give a film a sense of place. Pricing starts at $2,000 and every number is published on this page.
Most drone footage is decoration
Somewhere around 2016 every corporate video started with the same shot: a slow rise over a parking lot, logo fading in. It is still happening. It is the visual equivalent of clearing your throat, and viewers have learned to skip it.
A drone shot is worth paying for when it shows something a person standing on the ground cannot see: how big the site actually is, how the buildings relate to each other, where the new wing is going, how much of the roof is done, how many people showed up. Scale, layout and progress. Those are real answers to real questions.
The rest of the time, the money is better spent on the part of the film where somebody talks. We will tell you which one you are buying.
What aerials are actually good for
Property and facility
Industrial buildings, warehouses, campuses, multi-site operations. One flyover explains a footprint faster than a paragraph and a site map. This is the single most useful commercial application there is.
Construction and development progress
The same flight path, the same altitude, once a month. Stitched together it becomes the timelapse that goes in the ribbon-cutting film, the investor update and the marketing for the next project. It only works if you start early, which is the part people regret.
Real estate and land
Acreage, frontage, access, what is next door. Everything a listing photo cannot show and every serious buyer asks about.
Events
A crowd from above is the only shot that conveys turnout. Festivals, ribbon cuttings, tournaments, tailgates. If it is a conference or a keynote, the useful coverage is mostly indoors — that is our event video page.
Establishing shots inside a bigger film
Two or three seconds of altitude to place a viewer in a location, used once rather than four times. This is how most of our drone footage gets used: as an ingredient, not a genre.
How we do it
- Drone as part of a shoot, not a separate line item. We fly during a normal production day. You are not paying a mobilization fee for somebody to drive out, launch, and leave.
- Airspace checked before the day. Much of this metro sits under controlled airspace — KCI, the Downtown Airport, Johnson County Executive, New Century, Charles B. Wheeler. Flights in controlled airspace require authorization, and we sort that out in advance rather than discovering it on site.
- Weather has a vote. Wind and rain ground a drone. We build the shoot so the ground work can still happen and the aerials move to another day if they have to.
- Graded to match. Aerial footage that has not been color matched to the rest of the film is obvious. Ours is cut and graded with everything else.
What you get
- A crew of two — the same two, every shoot.
- We come to you, anywhere in the metro, at no travel charge.
- Licensed music, color grading, sound mix and captions.
- The finished film plus the raw aerial clips, so your team can reuse them.
- Unlimited revisions. We work until you are happy, not until the hours run out.
What it costs
Drone is part of our normal packages rather than a separate rate card, which is usually cheaper than hiring a drone operator on top of a production.
- The Short — $2,000. A shoot of your site and your people, aerials included, cut to music with text on top. No interviews. This is the most common way a property or facility flyover gets bought.
- Story Film — $4,500. One location, interview-led, with aerials cut in. For when the site needs explaining by a person as well as from above.
- Brand Package — $10,000. Multiple scenes across a shoot day: a hero film, social cutdowns, aerial and ground b-roll, and photography.
Recurring construction progress flights are quoted per visit — tell us the site and the interval and we will put a number in writing. Full pricing for everything else is on our video production cost page.
Who we have worked with
We have produced work for QuikTrip, Mazuma and University Academy — the kind of clients whose footprint is part of the story: multiple sites, physical locations people visit, buildings that mean something to the people using them.
We are happy to walk you through what we made and what we would do differently for you. Ask on the call.
How it works
- A call. Thirty minutes. You tell us the site and what you need the footage to prove. We will also tell you honestly if aerials are not the right spend.
- Airspace and access. We check the airspace over your address and sort out any authorization and property permissions before the shoot day.
- The shoot. Usually one day, ground and air together, with a weather backup date if the aerials are essential.
- The cut. First version back within a couple of weeks, graded and matched. You give notes. We revise until it is right.
Where we fly
We shoot across the metro every week — Kansas City, Olathe, Lenexa, Shawnee, Liberty, Blue Springs and everywhere between. There is no travel charge inside the metro.
How much does drone video cost in Kansas City?
Drone is included in our normal packages rather than billed separately, so a site flyover cut to music is the $2,000 Short and an interview-led film with aerials is the $4,500 Story Film. Hiring a drone operator on top of a separate production almost always costs more.
Are you licensed to fly commercially?
Yes. Commercial drone work in the United States requires an FAA Part 107 remote pilot certificate, and we hold one. Where a flight falls inside controlled airspace we file for the authorization before the shoot day rather than on it.
Can you fly anywhere in the metro?
Not automatically. Large parts of the Kansas City metro sit under controlled airspace around KCI, the Downtown Airport, Johnson County Executive and New Century, and flying there requires authorization. We check the airspace over your address before the shoot rather than on the day.
What happens if the weather is bad?
Wind and rain ground a drone. We plan the day so the ground footage still gets shot and the aerials move to a backup date. If the aerials are the whole point, we build a weather date into the schedule from the start.
Do we get the raw aerial footage?
Yes. You get the finished film and the raw clips, so your team can reuse the aerials in decks, listings and social without coming back to us.
Can you do monthly construction progress flights?
Yes, and the trick is starting before the ground breaks. Same flight path, same altitude, same interval — which is what makes the finished timelapse work. Tell us the site and the interval and we will quote it per visit.
Is a drone shot worth it for my project?
It is worth it when the footage answers a question — how big, how far along, how many people, how it all fits together. If it would only be an opening shot before the real video starts, we will tell you to spend the money elsewhere.
